The Member status (MIMMM) comes with the recognition of an individual’s professional knowledge, experience, and understanding in a technical discipline related to the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining.

The Member status (MIMMM) comes with the recognition of an individual’s professional knowledge, experience, and understanding in a technical discipline related to the Institute of Materials, Minerals Mining.

Those who attain the title of MIMMM need to exercise independent judgment in both practical experience and the application of engineering or environmental and scientific principles. The grade holder will be innovative in technical subjects that are related to materials and natural resources in one or more of the below-listed items:

  • Extraction,
  • Exploration,
  • Forming,
  • Processing,
  • Application,
  • Selection,
  • Development,
  • Manufacturing,
  • Research,
  • Repurposing,
  • Reuse and
  • Recycling

Benefits:

Besides the general benefits that are related to other qualifications, a member can enjoy the below-listed benefits:

Membership will allow them to use the post-nominal letters ‘MIMMM’.

Being a member, they will be able to have free entry to the institution’s Introduction to Professional Registration workshop.

The grade of MIMMM can help them to apply for Interim Registration if they desire to be eligible in due course to apply for recognition as an Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council.

They can benefit from free entry to the institution’s Professional Registration Workshops.

They can enjoy access to a Mentor to help them apply for professional registration.

The holder will get free entry to the institute’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) workshop.

They will have free entry to the institution’s Fellowship workshop.

This grade will allow them to apply for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Professionally Qualified Person (PQP) card for which they will be required to pass the related CITB Health and Safety and Environment Test or an allowed alternative.

The grade will allow them to be recognized with Qualified for Minerals Reporting (QMR) accreditation as per the terms of the CRIRSCO templated Code of Reporting and added to IOM3’s register, from which practitioner credential due diligence checks can be done by the public.  

Professional registration:

If desiring to apply for professional registration as a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or Chartered Scientist (CSci), holding the IOM3 Member (MIMMM) grade or Fellow (FIMMM) grade when applying is a must for you.
