A  Chartered professional engineer is an experienced engineer with a registry from Engineering New Zealand, which is the registration authority in the country. To maintain CPEng status, one must be reassessed at least every six years.  

Some eligibility criteria need to be fulfilled for obtaining Chartered Professional Engineer status-

Eligibility Criteria-

     -Aspirant must have a Washington Accord-accredited qualification (Bachelor of Engineering, Honours) or must have equivalent knowledge.

      - The aspirant must complete an assessment to prove that he or she meets the competence standard.

     -One must be reassessed at least every 6 years to maintain his or her CPEng status

    -Aspirant must commit to the CPEng Code of Ethical Conduct
