Insulating black tape

PVC electrical flame retardant tape

It has three functions of insulation, flame retardancy, and waterproof, but because it is made of PVC, it has poor ductility and cannot wrap the joints very tightly. The waterproofness is not very ideal, but it has been widely used now.

High pressure self-adhesive tape

It is generally used in higher-level voltages. Because of its good ductility, it is better than the second type in waterproofing, so people also apply it in low-voltage fields.

But because its strength is not as good as that of PVC electrical flame retardant tape, usually these two kinds are used together.

Quality identification of electrical tape

First, check whether there are any defects from the appearance, whether the tape rewinding is compliant, whether there are burrs in the slitting, and whether it is smooth. Check the material of the tape (there are many types of electrical insulating tape, so I won’t introduce the quality of the material one by one. depends on usage).

Looking at the glue again, most of the glue has evolved towards environmental protection. The smell is very important. If it is very pungent, it is more likely to be a defective product (not all tapes). Is there any residual glue after tearing off after use? If the residual glue is on the product, this is the fatal point of the defective tape.

Matters needing attention: PVC materials are basically the same, mainly because of the glue. After a period of time, the poor quality tape is wrapped, and then unwrapped, you can see the separation of the glue and the PVC material. It looks sticky and uncomfortable, but the quality is good. The tape will not have this problem.

High pressure self-adhesive tape

High-voltage self-adhesive tape refers to the rubber belt, which is very elastic, and is generally used for the grounding of the distribution box and the cross-connection of the bridge, with a compression ring.

PVC electrical tape

Electrical tape refers to PVC material; PVC film has pressure-sensitive adhesive; it is generally used for car maintenance, insulation protection, color separation, sheath protection, and wire harness bundling.

The difference

One component is different: PVC electrical tape is pressure-sensitive adhesive evenly coated on PVC film; high-pressure self-adhesive tape is composed of rubber oil calcium powder, etc.; black tape is calendered from cloth, asphalt and other components.

Two different properties: the high temperature resistance of electrical tape is generally 80 degrees, and the high temperature resistance of high pressure self-adhesive tape can reach 150 degrees; black tape is usually used in low temperature environment.

The three differences are: PVC electrical tape is used for temperature environments below 70°C, insulation bonding, color separation, sheath protection, wire harness bonding, etc.

It can also be used for bonding, fixing, lapping, repairing, sealing and protection in industrial processes.

The price is different: PVC electrical tape is within 10 yuan, while the price of high-pressure rubber self-adhesive tape is 10-30 yuan per roll.

The characteristics of high pressure self-adhesive tape and PVC tape are different

The surface is smooth or foggy, the substrate is soft, has strong elasticity and high mechanical strength, and has excellent adhesion and electrical insulation.

High-voltage self-adhesive tape is used for insulation protection of 1KV-10KV wire and cable terminals and intermediate joints in a temperature environment below 80°C. It is also widely used in the insulation sealing of communication cable joints and the protection, maintenance and sealing of pipelines.
