Explore the brilliance of Rolex’s 2023 releases. Find out the 3 most exciting new watches of the season that deserve an up-close look.

Sometimes it makes us wonder that when Hans Wilsdorf came up with the brand ‘Rolex’ in 1905, did he really not know what this name is going to resonate with, in the forthcoming centuries or did he probably have some idea? Well, let’s leave this discussion for another day.

The Crown’s new releases are most anticipated and the year 2023 has seen Rolex once again push the boundaries of horological innovation that have set the watch community abuzz. As an obsessive Rolex lover, the brand new pieces have already captured a place in our hearts, but three specific releases might end up in our collection too.

If you're considering the thought to sell any pre-owned Rolex and embrace these new horological gems, then you are not alone!

Here are our 3 favourite Rolex releases of 2023

1. Rolex ‘Titanium’ Yacht-Master 42 (Ref. 226627)

It’s rarely seen that Rolex has moved the needle of surprise with the Yacht-Master series. So, when it decided to release a new Yacht-Master model in titanium, collectors and enthusiasts alike were just to laugh with excitement. The 42mm piece is sturdy as ever and feels unbelievably light on the wrist. After all, it’s titanium we’re talking about.

We are preconditioned to see the black dial with dot and baton markers, white gold Mercedes hands and a date window at the 3 o'clock position, so that is what awaits. Any year Rolex decided to release this Yacht-Master in titanium, it would have been a big hit. For anyone who appreciates the combination of robust looks with a weightless feel, this RLX titanium model is certainly the most comfortable.

Technical Specifications

  • Case: 42mm
  • Dial: Intense black dial
  • Crystal: Sapphire Crystal
  • Movement: Calibre 3235
  • Bracelet: Oyster bracelet in RLX Titanium
  • Power Reserve: 70 hours
  • Water-Resistance: 100m

2. Rolex Oyster Perpetual ‘Celebration Dial’ (Ref. 124300)

Named ‘Celebration’, the brand new Oyster Perpetual watches are simply the life of the party. Composed of fifty-one bubbles fringed with black and encapsulating the brightest and most vivid colours, the watches completely justify their moniker. Fans were shocked when Rolex decided to eliminate a few standout dial colours in 2022. And, now it decided to throw them back all together jam-packed in three different sizes – 31mm, 36mm and 41mm.

It’s a nice festive watch that you’d want to wear not for practicality but for the sheer sake of it. Many of you might resonate with the circles as balls, balloons, candy or bubbles as you gaze at the light blue coloured dial. However, it is still a true Rolex with a steel case, domed steel bezel and an Oyster bracelet. Thankfully, Rolex’s conservative image didn’t obstruct the popularity of this creative move but instead changed perceptions and attracted a broader audience, resulting in increasing demand.

Technical Specifications

  • Case: 41mm
  • Dial: Turquoise blue ‘Celebration’ dial
  • Crystal: Sapphire Crystal
  • Movement: Calibre 3230
  • Bracelet: Oyster bracelet in steel
  • Power Reserve: 70 hours
  • Water-Resistance: 100m

3. Rolex Perpetual 1908 (Ref. 52508)

Of all the releases this year, this is perhaps the most surprising. The Perpetual 1908 has most certainly immortalised the brand’s daring spirit forever. Elegant, discreet and perfectly balanced, this is Rolex’s best dress watch to date (at least that’s what we feel). The 18ct yellow gold version with the soft matte white dial appeals the most and looks incredibly elegant on the wrist. It is slender enough to fit under the cuff, proudly sliding into the fine dress watch category. It is fitted with a warm alligator leather strap.

The most evolution in this new model is seen on the dial which comes in a fine satin finish with black printed railroad tracks for the seconds and minutes. It is classic and highly legible. There’s a neat small-second display at the 6th counter with applied numerals on 3/9/12 o'clock. The big unprecedented surprise is the visible case back. The new 7140 engine is a combination of the past, present and future, and flaunts impeccable architecture. Rolex is not an ardent follower of trends, but this superlative dress watch is surely a nod to its rising interest.

Technical Specifications

  • Case: 39mm
  • Dial: Intense white dial
  • Crystal: Sapphire Crystal
  • Movement: Calibre 7140
  • Bracelet: Alligator leather strap
  • Power Reserve: 66 hours
  • Water-Resistance: 50m

CONCLUSION

This is not merely a review but an invitation to immerse yourself in some of Rolex’s finest creations for the year. The watches encapsulate the spirit of innovation, adventure and sheer luxury that rightfully defines the brand Rolex. As you delve into the intricacy of the design marvels, remember that the 2023 releases also offer the opportunity to invest in some gorgeous works of art which you can sell later at a good watch valuation.
